Govinda and David Dhawan – what a combination! They have given us entertainers like ‘Aankhen’, ‘Raja Babu’, ‘Deewana Mastana’, ‘Hero No. 1’, ‘Coolie No.1’, ‘Kyo Kii…Main Jhuth Nahi Bolta’! Alas, everything has to come to an end. And probably it is time this pair stops too… or at least cease making movies the same old way. After building up all the hype with a massive promotional effort, David Dhawan’s ‘Do Knot Disturb’ turns out to be a complete disappointment.

Loud films are not really the order of the day. And taking audiences for granted is a sure shot way of being rejected. ‘Do Knot Disturb’ is not just overtly loud, but it does not make sense and is super slow. So 30 minutes into the movie you will not find any advancement in the story but just a whole lot of attempt at making you laugh with some silly scenes. Unfortunately, leaving apart those 30 minutes, there would be just around four scenes in the entire movie that will make you laugh.

The story of ‘Do Knot Disturb’ is somewhere a mixture of ‘Yes Boss’ and ‘Biwi No. 1’. What’s funny is that those films were made over 10 years back but they make you smile even today, while ‘DKD’ fails. And it is not because of the actors but the screenplay and dialogues. The interval promises something better towards the second half. And it does get better until it loses track all over again towards the end. Technically the film does not look half as sleek as David’s last film ‘Partner’ and neither does the music work.

Performance wise, Govinda and Ritesh Deshmukh are the saviours. While Govinda reigns, Ritesh shows why he is the ideal successor as the next comic star. The girls are a let down though. Sushmita looks terribly bloated and Lara falls as she tries over-the-top comedy. Ranvir Shorey is funny in parts.

Overall, ‘Do Knot Disturb’ is a film which probably even bored the crew while making it. This one turns out to be one tacky film. You surely don’t want the disturbance.

PS: Sushmita Sen said she gained 4 kilos for the movie and gradually lost it. Wonder why she needed to do that. She was hardly there in the film anyway!
