According to an IPL release, the T20 league would conduct players' auction for the third season in January. All the eight franchises have been asked to provide a list of players available for auction till the end of this month.

Eleven Pakistani players participated in the inaugural edition of the IPL. However, the franchises retained the contracts of only four of them for the second season following the Mumbai terror attacks.

The IPL release said that during the next season pink balls would be used for practice matches. ne of the major changes in the rules for the next season would be that each team would be allowed four fielding substitutes instead of the mandatory twelfth man.

Besides that, in order to simplify the no-ball rule, the league has decided that any ball bowled above waist height regardless of the speed will be adjudged an illegitimate delivery.
