Mariah Carey to launch own champagne after tipsy award speech

Washington, January 16: Mariah Carey is set to launch her own line of champagne after delivering a tipsy speech at an awards ceremony.

The singer evoked smirks as she took to the microphone after knocking back glasses of bubbly at the Palm Springs International Film Festival on January 6.

The star jokingly laid the blame on Precious director Lee Daniels for the incident. "We were celebrating and having little splashes, and I hadn't eaten, and that's what it was. We were celebrating the movie and all the exciting stuff going on," Us magazine quoted her as saying at the People's Choice Awards the next day.

"There's a time for celebration and a time for not-but really technically, it's a party atmosphere. We had splashes of champagne. I love Lee, but he's a bad influence," she added.

The diva announced on her Twitter page that she will soon come up with her own bottle.

She posted: "Didn't realize they put the champagne on the tables, So we WOULDN'T drink it! LoL. No, seriously ANGEL CHAMPAGNE (ROSE) by MC coming soon!"
